Benefits of STEM Leadership


The Global STEM Leadership Program combines STEM concepts and education with hands-on leadership opportunities and leadership studies. The program will provide children and youth with immersive STEM-based learning.

STEM Career Mentorship


All students will have the opportunity to be mentored throughout the course of the program. The right mentor can provide advice and connections, helping the mentee onto a path to success.

Whether enrolled in a public school, catholic school, private school, French school or home-school, SMAC offers easy and affordable STEM Immersion learning options for all ages.

Parent Workshops


Parent workshops will engage parents with STEM Programming and learning on how best to support their children during their leadership journey. We offer workshops for parents while their children are engaged in STEM mentorship and learning.

Parent Mentorship


Making parents aware of the range of STEM careers available can offer students from disadvantaged backgrounds a vital supportive influence at home; parental encouragement makes it more likely that students will progress on to STEM careers and prevent them from identifying as ‘non-STEM’

This group contributes to program planning, the organization of social occasions, fundraising and other matters. Being a part of our parent engagement group is an enjoyable way to find out more about the Global STEM Leadership Program while getting to know the staff and other parents.

Grade 5 & 6 Program


This cohort group is the induction group of each session year. Beginning their STEM leadership journey in the junior cohort at this level, students will partake in the opportunity to take on a mentee position to learn how leadership is cultivated while learning by example, one of the fundamental skills to becoming a leader.

Overview


Both cohort groups in Level 1 will partake in sessions that combine STEM concepts and education with hands-on leadership opportunities and leadership studies. The program will provide students with immersive STEM-based experiential learning. Students will have the opportunity to facilitate and engage in local, national, and global projects, ultimately pioneering change within their community and the development of future leaders.

Grade 7 & 8 Program


This program level is open to all students including those graduating from level 1. Students will be introduced to more specialized STEM subjects. They will have the opportunity to interact with other bright and like minded individuals as well as industry experts. Students will focus on development of various useful skills that will be acquired through exposure to STEM related concepts and opportunities. The program at this level will equip students to take on the secondary levels successfully.

Overview


Once the students have an understanding of the basics required to build a true leader in STEM, they move on to this level. This level is focused on building upon the concepts and foundation from level 1. Each spring, the students will have the opportunity to attend a University Readiness program. Students will immerse themselves in a complete university experience with STEM-based classes taught by various university educators, making new networking connections and long lasting friendships with other like minded students.

Grade 9 & 10 Program


This program is open to all students including those who have graduated from level 2. Students at this level will be introduced to more complex and challenging experiences. They will be encouraged to innovate and collaborate with peers, mentors and global STEM leaders. Students in the will have the opportunity to further develop their leadership and interpersonal relationship skills by mentoring junior students.

Overview


Like the other levels this level also comprises of two cohorts. This level encourages students to focus on their personal areas of interest and explore their choice of STEM subjects. Youth will have the opportunity to create exciting and innovative work, collaborate with other bright and like minded individuals at post-secondary institutions as well as participate in various workshops, classes, and world-class STEM conferences and leadership events.

Grade 11 & 12 Program Overview


It’s time for post-secondary applications. Where do you stand? The SMAC Leadership Program will continue to build on what students have learned during the previous cohort years and prepare them for the future. Mentorship, scholarship opportunities,  internships, exchange programs, leadership conferences, workshops, and FREE STEM-based University Readiness Programs are just some of the features of the Level 4 program.

University Readiness Classes


With leadership registration, Level 4 cohorts will gain access to STEM-based mentors across Canada to help them transition to post-secondary studies. Our University Readiness classes will provide preparation and understanding in STEM-based areas of learning and provide a first look and real experience in taking year 1 university classes.

STEM Clubs


The STEM Leadership Program will have national and global STEM-based clubs, competitions and exclusive opportunities for students to learn and grow in STEM. Enrollment in clubs and competitions are free of charge to enter, unless the specific club or competition carries a fee. Opportunites will be presented to students throughout their tenure with the SNLP.

The Ignite STEM Leadership Program Prep is an exhilarating journey designed for young trailblazers in grades 3 and 4. This immersive program lays the foundation for future STEM leaders by sparking their curiosity and nurturing their leadership potential. Through captivating hands-on activities and engaging challenges, students will explore the dynamic world of science, technology, engineering, and math, while honing their teamwork and communication skills, preparing them for Level 1. With a focus on fostering innovation and cultivating a growth mindset, the Ignite STEM Leadership Program Prep empowers these budding leaders to ignite their passions and embark on a lifelong quest of learning and leadership in the STEM arena.
